The house needs to be fitted with 30 fluorescent lamps, 2 spotlights, 5 fans & 3 air-conditioners. And these are just the super basic stuff. The rest of the interior is J’s problem…

NIKEiD Studio, Shimao, Shanghai.
Sometime not so long ago, I went visit my bro at his village in China. It was my first visit – even though he had been working there for 2 years. I was there for 10 days. And everyday, I never fail to see Chinese people piss by the roadside. According to my bro, I’d better be burning 88 joss sticks to the Heavenly Gods if a day goes by without me seeing someone do it. Lucky for me, for the full 10 days, I sufficiently blessed.

Wow, hundreds of shoes to kick your potential customers away.
Anyway, I did go to many places, did a lot of shopping, paid for some sight-seeing and ate far too many things. The most memorable experience to me however, was the trip to the NIKEiD store. Situated in the town centre around People’s Square. It was where I made my first purchase in Shanghai. Some RMB1400 worth… ataupun kira-kira Ringgit Malaysia Tujuh Ratus +/-.

6 exclusive designs. They all look so good in white.
The concept is like this… For a slight premium, you can pick any Nike’s products and have the in-house staff personalize it for you. You have the full control. You choose the material, color and even the design name. This service however, it not entirely new. It was already available online for Nike fans in Europe and the US. But you still have to visit a “physical” studio to get exclusive access to NIKEid-Studio-only designs – even in the EU/US.

Monitor very big. My sized-12 shoe look small

All these material and colors to confuse you.
I spent a good hour there designing my sneaker. If all goes well, I should be receiving them in the mail in 1-2 weeks. My revolutionary shoe… inspired by the best of the worlds. The colors of the rainbow, the cheerfulness of the Ronald McDonald and of course, the left-and-right-not-same-color of your favorite pair of cheap bowling shoes.
Here’s a preview. Nice or not?
